The proposed new dwelling in the hamlet of Greystoke Ghyll in the
Eden Valley, is carefully orientated to create a sensitive intervention that
responds to the existing site topography. A sheltered courtyard is created,
accessible off a generous open plan kitchen and living space. The timber
framed, pitched roof volumes respond to the local vernacular forms of the
neighbouring farmstead buildings.
Works have included a careful design phase to secure planning approval for the new build family home. This has invovled an in depth study of the clients spatial needs while balancing the parameters of local policies and the site contraints involving working around four protected Sycamore trees.
